It’s The Sun wot won it … for now

IT was party time for The Scottish Sun last week as it ended the Daily Record’s 32-year reign as the best selling daily paper in Scotland.
The news that it sold 393,953 against the Record’s 383,785 in July ends an anomaly that has stuck in the craw of Team Murdoch for decades.

Record feels heat of Scots Sun at its back

The day Rob Dalton turned up to meet me for lunch wearing an ill-fitting suit, black woolly gloves and a rolled-up copy of The Sun under his arm I knew he wasn't the really the man for the Kinning Park hot seat. I couldn't work out whether the paper was to help me identify him or whether he just hadn't got round to reading it.

The price is right for the soaraway Sun

After 32 years as king of the tabloids in Scotland, the Record is now staring at a long battle to win back readers from Rupert Murdoch's daily. Circulation of the Record in Scotland last month was 384,378, down 7.3% year on year, while The Sun hit 393,953, up 11.8%.
