Pay Deal Struck at Ayrshire Titles

NUJ members at the Ayrshire newspaper titles of the Clyde & Forth group have voted to accept a new pay and conditions structure.

It follows a work to rule over staffing levels and responsibilities - with some staff being asked to perform editorial duties beyond their official titles.

Lironi Lined up for Glasgow Post

A former political editor of the Sunday Mail newspaper has been appointed as senior adviser to the leader of Glasgow City Council.

Brian Lironi is to work for Councillor Steven Purcell. He was most recently director of communications for the Labour Group at the Scottish Parliament.

Sunday Herald changes

Iain S. Bruce has been made multi-media editor. Says Sunday Herald editor, Richard Walker: “Iain has, of course, been the Sunday Herald’s online editor since time began. His new role will herald a greater integration between the Sunday Herald in print and online. His duties include attending all newspaper conferences to drive extra content into the Sunday Herald website, to promote the Sunday Herald brand in the online environment and to contribute articles on technological innovations to the business and news sections.”

Daily Record Appoints New News Editor

The Daily Record has appointed a new news editor, to take over from Tom Hamilton, who has been made assistant editor of the title.

Family Announcements added to Scotsman Website

The website of The Scotsman newspaper has added another service to its roster: births, deaths, marriages and other family announcements.

The site, which enjoys some four million unique users per month, still allows families to include their notices in the newspaper.

P.S. The Herald has had this service for some time now.
